It has been 118 days since the death of Breonna Taylor and 28 days since the pass of ‘Breonna’s Law,’ banning no-knock warrants. Breonna Taylor’s home was raided by the police who opened fire, her boyfriend was initially arrested for the authority’s misdoing, and the official police report listed that Breonna sustained “no injuries.” Even with so much time passing and new laws being put in place, justice for Breonna has yet to be served because the officers who took her life remain free to this day. Her name has been desensitized on social media and not enough action has been taken to urge that her murderers be held accountable.
We cannot stay silent any longer and it is enraging to see no justice being served. The criminal justice system reinforces its racial hierarchies and oppression by ignoring cases like Breonna’s. The police officers must be held accountable for taking the life of Breonna Taylor, a woman who spent her time saving the lives of others. We URGE that BEFORE YOU SHARE POSTS LIKE THIS ONE, to call the officials, sign petitions, and donate to bring justice for Breonna. Demand change and demand accountability. Use your voices to stand up for not only Breonna Taylor, but for all Black womxn whose stories go unheard. Every phone call and signature is one step closer to justice because change cannot be made without everyone’s effort.
