According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 120 territories around the world have detected the COVID-19 Delta variant within their borders. The WHO predicts that there could be more than 200 million confirmed cases within a few weeks, making delta the most dominant variant worldwide. Some countries had begun to relax restrictions due to falling death rates; however, new circumstances may deem those actions pre-mature. Areas with slower vaccine rollouts or lack access to vaccines are experiencing the most devastating effects. Meanwhile, vaccine skepticism continues in many parts of the U.S., with over 30 percent of eligible U.S. citizens still not being vaccinated.
This pandemic has wreaked havoc on the modern world, and its effects persist. The U.S. government recommends that all eligible citizens be vaccinated as vaccines have shown to drastically reduce COVID-19 hospitalizations rates.
